Healthcare for Unaccompanied Foreign Minors

Foreign minors present on the territory, regardless of whether they have a residence permit, can always be enrolled in the SSR on an obligatory basis, on an equal footing with Italian citizens.

In the absence of parental figures of reference, and if the minor does not have a family member up to the fourth degree on the Italian territory who takes care of him/her, he/she is to be considered an Unaccompanied Foreign Minor (MSNA).

They can be enrolled in the SSR and have access to a complete healthcare service, under conditions of equal treatment and full equality of rights and duties with respect to Italian minors.

How long is the registration with the SSR valid for?
Compulsory registration is valid for one year with the possibility of renewal, even while awaiting the issue of a residence permit.
