Screening for oncological pathologies
Cancer screening is a secondary prevention health measure. It aims at a precocious diagnose of tumours or alterations that could develop one.
The programme offers:
- counselling, information and support,
- breast examinations and teaching breast self-exams,
- diagnostic exams prescription,
- healthcare services included in the regional screening plan.
Screening services are offered to healthy people with no ailments, who belong to age ranges considered at risk of developing such diseases. The activity works "by invitation": people receive a letter that invites them to participate in the screening service and they can choose whether to go or not. The screening result can be negative or, alternatively, it could require additional diagnostic exams.
